About Our Founders

MindMe International was born from a powerful belief: that access to quality education is not a luxury. It is a right and every young person deserves it. Founded in Kenya, MindMe International is working to ensure that students thrive, emotionally, mentally, and academically. What began as a shared concern between two changemakers about the silent struggles young people face in classrooms has grown into a bold movement that integrates quality education with mental health awareness into the pursuit of educational equity

At the heart of this vision is John Wambugu, whose personal experiences navigating the pressures of school and limited resources, shaped his deep commitment to making education not only accessible, but transformative. Alongside Caroline Kiiru, co-founder and a passionate advocate for education for sustainable development, the two envisioned a model where access to community libraries, creative production training, and youth-driven learning spaces could unlock untapped potential in underserved communities. Together, they founded MindMe International to bridge the gap between academic learning and personal empowerment—ensuring students have the tools, spaces, and support to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Their work breathes life into SDG 4: Quality Education, by recognizing that real learning happens when students are inspired, resourced, and emotionally supported. Whether it’s a child discovering the power of reading in a community library or a teenager finding their voice through digital storytelling and spoken word training, these interventions do more than educate—they liberate. By creating inclusive spaces for learning and expression, MindMe is not only improving literacy and skills, but nurturing a generation of thinkers, creators, and changemakers equipped to shape a just and equitable future.
